Yes, I Am Now A Personal Hotspot!

I picked up a MiFi card from Sprint this past weekend. While the Palm Pre looks to be a pretty cool phone (no, as an iPhone guy I do not yet see a reason for device envy, especially with OS 3.0 just around the corner), it was almost too bad this device came out during [...]

When jurors tweet

March 18th, 2009 · No Comments

Social media has come to jurisprudence, John Schwartz writes in today’s New York Times, and the result has judges, attorneys and legal scholars flummoxed.
Why is this a problem? Schwartz explains:
Jurors are not supposed to seek information outside of the courtroom. They are required to reach a verdict based on only the facts [...]

Dean Rizzuto of Metzger Associates and Zena Weist of EMBARQ did a great job of outlining an underutilized application by marketers – the mobile phone.
The most salient point of the presentation to me was that sometimes simple marketing using SMS is the most poignant way to reach people. After two separate unsuccessful trips [...]

iPhone 3G… Getting Closer!

July 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Just dropped by the Apple Store again today. The line is down to about 30 minutes and moving quickly. Since I had a meeting (sometimes jobs can be such a pain!) I couldn’t wait, but my buds at the Apple Store tell me that by 5 or so, I should be able to stroll right [...]

iPhone 3G? Maybe Not Today…

July 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I just tried to get a new iPhone, but the line at the Boulder Apple store was at least a block, and the AT&T Store sold out of their first 60 in the first hour. Plus, I hear they’re having trouble with the activiation servers.
Maybe later today, maybe tomorrow…

I Liked the Nuvi, Now I LOVE the Nuvi!

July 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Seldom does technology break through from “neat” to “WOW” for me. Well, as I noted earlier, I’ve been testing a Garmin Nuvi for a few days. I just discovered this:
If you type in “liquor” it finds the five or six closest liquor stores. That just plain rocks. Clearly, it’s not that useful in your hometown, [...]

Garmin Nuvi — very cool!

June 27th, 2008 · No Comments

At the risk of turning this into a gadget blog, I can’t resist writing a bit about the Garmin Nuvi, and really great gadget I’m playing with during my stay in Kansas City this week.
The Nuvi is a small (not much bigger than my iPhone) GPS device. You enter the address you’d like to visit, [...]

New Jawbone Worth the Upgrade

June 16th, 2008 · No Comments

So, if it’s not already obvious I’m a gadget guy, let me make it more so — I just gave my wife my First Gen Jawbone Bluetooth headset so I could get… the new Jawbone Bluetooth headset.
Worth it? Absolutely.
For those of you now familiar with Jawbone, it is, in my humble opinion, the finest Bluetooth [...]

Will the Stewardess Make Me Turn Off a Kindle?

March 2nd, 2008 · 4 Comments

Serious question… does anyone have experience? I’ve been seriously thinking of investing in an Amazon Kindle, but I’ve been curious if I’d be asked to turn it off during take-off and landing. Any experience?
